Games launch & close when getting to play screen win 7!

Nowadays video games are getting more and more popular, you can play them anywhere, anytime and on any device, it doesn’t matter if you’re on the bus or if you’re in your office, you can enjoy any game in a matter of seconds.

But what happens when you experience game crashing?

It can be frustrating and very nerve-wracking, your favorite past-time just won’t work anymore or this game you’ve been looking for, for so long just refuses to work… I know anyone has experienced it at least one time, but what happens when this persists? Is it a driver problem? Is your laptop suffering? Is the game too slow?

A lot of people are reporting this problem, because every time they launch a game it instantly closes when it gets to the play screen, especially those who have windows 7, so why is that and what is the solution for games launch & close?

Symptoms of the problem

You might’ve noticed it once and didn’t pay that much attention until it happened again, but generally, here are the symptoms of the problem:

  • Your game crashes
  • It closes after it reaches the play screen
  • Your laptop restarts
  • The game window gets so small
  • You receive an error message

1: Your game might not be updated

If the problem is simply this, then it’s easier than you might think, you’ll just have to download the latest updates for the game you need.

How? Simply search for the website of the game you want and you’ll probably find the update you need for your game to start to work correctly.

2: Check the requirement of the game’s system

If these issues occur for a new game, then all you need to is check its requirement.

It might be due to your laptop not meeting the requirements of the game, and that includes everything from CPU to the graphics card.

If your laptop doesn’t match the game’s criteria then it’s normal for it to crash, if all your game needs is a larger RAM capacity then that’s doable and all you need to do is add another one.

But if it needs a different CPU then you might want to change the game and let that one down.

3: Use a clean startup procedure to restart the computer

When you open your laptop, it can be normal for numerous programs to start automatically. The problem with this is that many programs might include antivirus which can interfere with the game.

To stop this interference, all you need to do is restart the computer while using a clean startup procedure.

If this doesn’t fix your problem and stops your game from crashing then check the next solution.

4: Run the game using compatibility mode

If your game is of the older kind, then this will help but if your game is quite new, then it may not work. Compatibility mode helps with running software using previous window platforms because some older game is only compatible with the older version of windows:

  • Right-click the game you want and choose properties
  • Choose the computability tab.
  • Select run this program in compatibility mode for windows
  • Select Windows Vista for example.
  • Click apply and ok to save the new setting
  • Relaunch the game

Check if the game now launches correctly.

5: Launching the game from a different user

If you try all the tips before and your game doesn’t launch then you might want to try launching it from another user.

  • Open user account
  • Click add on the user’s tab
  • Choose a name and enter the information you need for the new user
  • Set a password and re-type it to confirm it.
  • Click on Next
  • Click finish.

If your game requires administrator-level access to run then you might need to turn this user to an administrator or right-click the game and run it in administrator’s mode.

6: Update video driver

Sometimes the problem might reside in your video adapter, if this is the problem then you’ll need to install the latest version there is for your laptop, you can find depending on your laptop a list of video drivers from which you can download the version that is most suitable for your laptop.

If you have no idea what type of video adapter you have or which manufacturer is the one responsible for it then all you need to do is ;

  • Click start
  • In the start, search type dxdiag and click ENTER.
  • Press Display
  • Click on Device and search for Name and Manufacturer
  • Remember them or type them somewhere
  • Exit

7: Updating the sound driver

If your sound driver isn’t updated to its latest version then it might be the reason why your game isn’t launching, you need to update it and install the latest version of the sound driver available.

Just like the last tip, if you’re looking for information about the sound driver then all you need to is :

  • Click start
  • In the search bar type dxdiag and click ENTER
  • Choose the Sound tab
  • Search for Name under Device, and for Provider under Drivers
  • Exit

8: Reinstalling the game

If every single one of those tip mentioned above didn’t work so far then one of the options you’ve got left is removing the game and reinstalling it, first follow.

For this you’ll need to perform a clean startup procedure for Windows, for this just follow tip number 3 and then remove the game altogether without leaving any file behind.

  • Press Start
  • Search for programs and features in the search bar and click on it
  • Choose the game you wish to remove of your laptop and click Uninstall
  • Follow the instructions

Now you’ve removed the game and it’s time to reinstall it again

  • In the CD or DVD drive insert the game CD
  • Complete the installation process

Once the installation is completed, launch the game and see if the problem persists.

9: Check for viruses

Sometimes the game might close and lag because of a virus, malware is pretty common especially if you install unknown software/

If you’ve got your antivirus software already installed, then you won’t get into much trouble, all you need to do is click on your antivirus software and plan a scan and removal of any suspicious file or activity on your laptop.

If you don’t then there’s windows firewall that can scan your computer as well and protect it and all you’ve got to do is launch it.

10: Disable your antivirus

Sometimes antiviruses programs and software might consider your game a malware, if this is the case for you then all you need is to launch your software, and, disable it for the period you plan on playing the game.

If your game still refuses to launch even after applying all of these tips then the problem might be coming for your graphics card or laptop in general, there won’t be perhaps a solution to this besides upgrading your laptop or choosing another game that’s more suitable for what you have.

If you’ve got other solutions besides this to share then just leave them in the comment for other people to benefit from them, games crashing, games launch & close can be a common thing which is why if you tried anything that helped you get rid of it might help others
